Freelancers and Laptops

Many individuals today are working for themselves as freelancers.  A freelancer is a person that has a particular skill or trade and they provide that service to businesses for a fee.  Laptop computers play an important role in this type of business because these individuals are always on the go.

Laptop computers afford a freelancer the ability to work at their client’s location, at their home office or at a coffee shop.  The freelancer can complete their work on time regardless of where they are.  This increase in mobility presents a problem for laptop users because their computer can become easily damaged.  Therefore, laptop insurance is an important thing to own when you are freelancing.

This insurance policy protects a laptop computer from accidental damage, liquid damage and theft, no matter where they are in the world.  Laptop insurance costs less than purchasing a new laptop computer — you could be paying as little as £2.99 per month!

Mobility Dangers of a Laptop Computer

Saturday, May 29, 2010
posted by hemant

Since laptop computers allow us to go anywhere, users will take advantage of different landscapes while working. This allows individuals to get their work done anywhere – the beach, a coffee shop, a library, anywhere. However, it is important that individuals take certain precautions while using their laptop to ensure that no harm comes to it.

In public places, laptop computers are more exposed to damage and theft. Individuals that are passing by can drop items they are carrying on your computer causing damage. Also, liquids can be easily spilt onto your computer rendering it useless. In addition, with all the distractions of a public place, your attention can easily be diverted away from your laptop and someone else can steal it from you.

When working with a laptop computer it is imperative that you own laptop insurance as it will protect you against the events noted above. The low monthly insurance premium of only £2.99 for laptops that cost under £600 – and £5.99 for laptops that cost over £600 is much more affordable than having to purchase a new computer.

Watching Movies on Your Laptop

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Being able to watch a movie on your laptop is a great way to pass the time while travelling.  This is especially true on airplanes because you are not able to move around.  However, using your laptop for extended periods of time will present a too many opportunities for damage to occur to your laptop.

With the laptop opened in your laptop other individuals around you can spill liquids onto your computer or even drop objects onto the screen and keyboard — this damage can permanently ruin your computer.  Even if you are sitting in a coffee shop or library watching a movie, damage can occur at any time.  If you were to take your eyes off your laptop for a brief moment, you may find that your computer has been stolen.

Laptop insurance is a great way to protect your computer from accidental and liquid damage, as well as theft.  In exchange for an affordable monthly insurance premium, your laptop computer will be protected and should you experience a covered event, your computer will be repaired or replaced.

Avoid Leaving Your Laptop Unattended

Monday, February 8, 2010
posted by admin

Many of us think that it is safe to leave our laptops unattended for even a few minutes. Some of us may be in a coffee shop and will leave our computer behind while we use the restroom or order a coffee.

Although it may seem inconvenient to have to pack up our laptop and take it with us, it is a small precautionary measure in comparison to replacing it.

Leaving your computer unattended is never a good idea. Your laptop is an expensive piece of equipment that has a high resale value, which is why thieves are drawn to them.

You should make a conscious effort never to leave your laptop unattended. Yet, even with the best of intents, your laptop could be stolen. This is where laptop insurance comes in — you get protection for theft for a few pounds per month. The cost is less than the cup of coffee that you would buy at a coffee shop.
