Even though you have laptop insurance that does not mean that you want to actually have to go through the claim process. Insurance is in place to protect you if an unexpected event were to occur — but many insurance-covered incidents can be avoided – which makes your life easier and means no time without your laptop.

You need to make sure that there are no activities going on around your computer that would make it susceptible to accidental damage.

” You should avoid using your computer near a pool, beach, boat, or an overly crowded area.
” You should protect your computer from theft, which means that you should never leave it unattended.
” Do not allow food or drink around your computer
” Avoid laptop theft by carrying it in a non-standard laptop case – so it is not instantly recognizable as containing a laptop.
” You should be aware of your surroundings at all times.

The excess fee that is required is nominal in comparison to the full retail value of a laptop. However, this does not mean that you want to actually have to pay it, which is why you should have some safeguards in place.
